Romance vs. Family

To start with, this drama sounds either amazing or boring. I was sucked in by it after I read the synopsis and saw the promotional pictures. However, when I started watching it, I kind of got bored after the second episode but then I continued watching it.

This is not a light drama. It requires a deep level of understanding to appreciate it or you have to be a hardcore crazy romantic kid. There is so much more to the show than just its romance. Plus Jang Geun Suk being one of my favorite actors, it was a treat to watch him in it.

Image

The biggest issue raised in this show regarding love is- how far are you willing to go for your love? Is true love really worth fighting for, or not?

"Love Rain" depicts a 1970's pure love and a love from the present day at the same time. It shows how the children of a previous ill-fated couple, who met in the 1970s, managed to meet and fall in love. Seo In Ha and Kim Yoon Hee, an art student and a shy beauty, met and fell in love with each other during college in the 1970s but unfortunately their love was fated to never be.

ImageThe conflict between the parents-children love story just sucked me. This was just the level of selfishness or selflessness.  How can this be? It was not a question of who loved for a longer time- it was about whose love was greater.

ImageImage

Now in the present 21st century Korea, Seo In Ha's son, Seo Joon (a liberal photographer) meets and falls in with the daughter of Kim Yoon Hee, Jung Ha Na, a cheerful and energetic girl who's personality is different from her mother's.

I really loved how Jun and Ha Na put their parents' happiness over everything else. And I simply hated the character of In Ha. He was one of the most selfish ones in this drama. I was only happy when he did that one thing for his son. But I would say even that wouldn't count for much if you consider the way he left his child abandoned.

Image

My favorite thing about the drama is the cinematography. The drama was filmed so beautifully. The sunset scenes, the garden scenes, the beach scenes; they were all shot gorgeously. It is seldom that dramas are filmed so prettily and I think that Love Rain gets extra points for the cinematography.

To point out the main cast, I have never seen YoonA act before and I was really curious how the singer would fair as an actress. It was like she suddenly became another person, which was true, in a way.

Jang Geun Suk was real good as usual. How he could switch from the shy and quiet In Ha to the super hot and arrogant Seo Joon in a timelapse of an episode was really good. It was so nice to see him portray a character off his usual types.

Although the story line is a bit cliche and it started a little slow, I really enjoyed this drama. It had a balance of fun scenes and melodramatic ones. The crying scenes are great because I understand why it is sad and the actors really did a great job of portraying the hurt they are feeling. This drama also showed the different faces of love: family, friends and romantic (both good and bad).

Few lines that i love most.

"Love rain, the one fated chance of meeting that day...
One second... two second... three second...
You have been imprinted in my heart deeply, unforgettably.
Only to discover that, I have fallen for you."

-------------

"Love means never having to say you're sorry,
Because love is always sincere."

------------

"There are two faces of love,
Happiness and sadness."

Meanwhile, Jae-Hee (Park Si-Yeon) is a reporter at HBS broadcasting company. Both Ma-Roo and Jae-Hee come from poor family backgrounds, but try hard to achieve their dreams: Ma-Roo to become a doctor and Jae-Hee to become an anchorwoman.

One day, Ma-Roo goes home and finds his sister feverishly sick. While he puts socks on his ill sister, Ma-Roo receives a phone call from Jae-Hee. Jae-Hee sounds completely frantic and asks Ma-Roo to come over to save this man. Even though Ma-Roo's sick sister begs him to not leave her, Ma-Roo rushes over to help Jae-Hee. When he arrives at the motel room, he finds Jae-Hee completely shaken and a dead man laying on the floor near her. Ma-Roo attempts to counsel Jae-Hee to turn herself in to the police. Appearing completely broken in spirit, Jae-Hee begins to call the police, but Ma-Roo hangs up the phone. He kisses Jae-Hee and then goes through the motel room to wipe away Jae-Hee's fingerprints. Ma-Roo then tells Jae-Hee that he will take the blame and turn himself into the police.

Meanwhile, Eun-Gi (Moon Chae-Won) is the rich heiress a to family that owns the large corporation Taesan. She has been groomed to become the successor to the Taesan corporation and, consequently, shows very little emotions. When she pulls her car over in front of her home, Eun-Gi sees a woman hug her father. The woman hugging her father is Jae-Hee. In tears, Jae-Hee tells Eun-Gi "You have no idea what I did to protect you. What I just did to the man I care the most for in my life."

6 years later, after serving a 5 year prison sentence, Ma-Roo travels to Aomori, Japan to retrieve money from a woman who swindled his friend Jae-Gil (Lee Kwang-Soo). Ma-Roo seduces the woman and retrieves the money stolen from his friend. At the same time, Eun-Gi and her now stepmother Jae-Hee are also in Aomori, Japan. Eun-Gi looks down upon her stepmother as nothing but a gold digger.

On the flight back to Korea, Ma-Roo waits to use the restroom. When the restroom door opens, Eun-Gi walks out and collapses onto Ma-Roo. Ma-Roo places Eun-Gi on the floor and walks back to his seat. Eun-Gi's condition quickly worsens and the airplane asks if there is a doctor on the flight. Since nobody comes forward, Ma-Roo is compelled to help Eun-Gi. While administering aid to Eun-Gi, he asks for the woman's guardian. At this time, Jae-Hee walks over to the scene and states that she is her mother. Jae-Hee also has a child next to her that is calling her mom.

Seems like a highly twisted, complicated relationship.

The whole show wouldn't have been possible if Maru did not save Jaehee from her desperate situation. (He fell in love, too much )

I'm a sucker for love stories and relationships that slowly grow that feels genuine right over time, which is probably why this drama is one of my favorites.

What I enjoyed about Nice Guy was because unlike most melodramas, it concentrated more on the characters and the transitions they went through, rather than overflow the plot with makjang to keep it interesting. I enjoyed watching Ma Ru’s fall from a bright young man into an emotionless creature, living only for revenge. His character stayed mysterious for the most part of the show as he spent all his time lying and pretending.

I liked how they portrayed Jae Hee, despite the fact that she's a total bitch. She's still quite human. And the idea of having Eun Gi willing to give up her fortune for someone she loves, in contrast to Jae Hee on how she gave up her love for fortune is a brilliant was absolutely good in my opinion.

Song Joong Ki as Kang Ma Ru. Well, is there anyone who doesn’t love him? In fact, it’s a bit doubtful whether Nice Guy would have received so much attention if it hadn’t been for Soong Ki in the lead role. I was very pleased with his acting, even though I still saw him as a bit too pretty for the role. Joong Ki acts with his eyes, as can be seen in this drama, and it's the kind of acting I like the most actually. I enjoy when actors, in addition to the lines they say, are able to tell even more with a certain look in their eyes. And I think Joong Ki has mastered that quite well just like in his movie "A Werewolf Boy".

He cries well, he can be a cold bastard well, he can be sincere and loving well, he just really good!

Moon Chae-Won was also very convincing. I loved how she could just switch from being a bitch to innocent without difficulty.  Portraying a smart, arrogant, and stubborn young lady and the only daughter of Taesan Group owner. She is an awesome girl who can be in any personalities and she did it well, funny thing about her, no matter how rude and harsh she is but I bet you still love her for being bold and strong.

Park Si Yeon as Han Jae Hee also doing very good in acting although I hate her character in this drama but she succeeds for being ‘femme fatale” in this drama.

Lee Kwang Soo. He's the funniest!

About the ending, honestly I didn't like it that much. It was just okay. It confused me. What the hell is the amnesia thing?? Who's that kid? How did Eun Gi got there? I mean.. Its really confusing for me but all in all it was good. Song Jong Ki again, he nailed it!

Anyways, here are some lines that i love..
Dying is hell. Why should living be hell?

Revenge is something that will not only harm the other person, but will also inflict harm onto everyone, including yourself. I know it very well.

"The wounds I carry, she carries them too. The unshed tears in my head flow through her heart too."
---
"People, you see… are ruthless and foolish. When they’re young, in order to have money and power, they give up everything like health and youth. And when they get sick, become old, and have all the money and power… in order to find their health and youth again, they spend all of the wealth they’ve wasted so much energy and time to accumulate."
---
Ma Ru: "I have been thinking a lot. About that night when noona killed a man. When I ran into that motel room...if that time...if I just let noona turn herself in. That instead you were to pay for your crime, what would have happened? I would have never left noona and I would have waited for you, regardless of how many years. I would have proposed to you too, noona. Then would noona have been happy?"
---
Ma Ru: "It was all wrong since then. Covering up for something that was wrong. Since then, noona...what is right, what is wrong, what you shouldn't do, where you definitely can't go - you've lost the knowledge to decide for yourself. And like a car without breaks, you just accelerated. I'm sorry, noona. I made noona like this. I thought it was love back then...it was just my childishness, and my arrogance. I made noona into an unimaginable monster like this...I was wrong. I made noona like this."
---
Ma Ru: "I will go to Noona. Love… I can’t promise love, but I can stay with you forever. As long as what you want from me isn’t love, as long as it isn’t that, it’s fine. Wherever noona is, I will wait for you, I’ll be understanding, I’ll be able to hold it in, endure it, and I will hold your hand. I won’t let it go. Stop all the useless acts, and throw away all the heavy weights laid upon you. And if there happens to be punishment that you deserve, accept it all. I will wait for you any time, so… will you come to me?"

[REVIEW] I Hear Your Voice 너의 목소리가 들려

image

Name : I Hear Your Voice, 너의 목소리가 들려 / Neoui Moksoriga Deulryeo
Genre : Romance, Comedy, Crime
Episodes : 18
Airing : June 2013 - August 2013

Main Cast :

* Lee Bo Young as Jang Hye Sung
* Kim So Hyun as young Hye Sung
* Lee Jong Suk as Park Soo Ha
* Goo Seung Hyun as child Soo Ha
* Yoon Sang Hyun as Cha Kwan Woo
* Lee Da Hee as Seo Do Yeon
* Jung Min Ah as young Do Yeon

Plot :

Jang Hye Sung, a bold, sassy, thick-faced, comical, and materialistic public defender who becomes a lawyer, comes to realizations about society and justice after meeting Park Soo Ha, a 19-year-old boy who reads other people’s thoughts and Cha Kwan Woo, an innocent lawyer who lives a disciplined life. Jang Hye Sung is actually Soo Ha's first love after she gave a decisive testimony on his father's murder case 10 years ago and Soo Ha promised to protect her from the killer's threats.

image

Until now, I still can't move-on. The first up to the last episode got me hooked. I like how it started with not-so gentle story line. Actually, its quite heart breaking. The storyline is captivating and thrilling. I would say it was nothing typical about this drama. Each episode is full of twist and turn.

The beginning of the drama was exciting as the past was revealed little by little. The only question you are left with is "Why did Min Joon Gook killed Su-ha's father?
The first episode served as an introduction to what kind of characters they are.

»Everyone fits their role perfectly.

image

❝ All this time your mouth has been telling lies, but your eyes have been telling the truth. Your eyes were telling words that I have longed to hear for 11 years. But, in order to protect you, I need to pretend that I don’t hear those words. ❞

❝ Telling the truth is always painful. That’s why, sometimes, I close my eyes in front of the truth. ❞
- Park Soo Ha, I Hear Your Voice

Park Soo Ha, his world is noisier than other people. Why? Because this 19 year old boy an hear two different sounds. Aside from the sounds that everybody can hear, he also can hear the sounds that people can't hear, thoughts. Park Soo Ha is definitely my favorite of all. I have fallen in love with his character or should I say I love him for real? He's such a cutie! I didn't know he was that a good actor. Ommona! Lee Jong Suk! Who wouldn't fall for him?

But...

There’s only one woman in his heart who is linked to his painful past. 10 years ago, one girl helped him to find out the person who murdered his father. That girl who bravely testified in the court, stole his heart. He swore that he would protect and guard her if he can meet her again.10 years later, he meets that girl again but that girl has changed. The love story and the love lines are perfect for their roles.

image

imageLee Bo Young is no joke. Great acting!

The still-figuring-it-out public defender, Jang Hye Sung is in her late 20's. Smart, confident and sassy. She learned it from her mom between  mother and daughter's affection. She's growing in front of viewers eyes from her first step as a public defender to her actions in the face of a murder trial.

image

Every character has a unique identity. Min Joon Gook, 'The Bad Guy' who I hated at first from the inner of my heart and soul. His confession was a bit touching for me but of course I still hated him. (hahaha)

image

Aside from the main cast, I also admire Seo Do Yeon .I can see that she has a good heart. Actually I knew it before also when she said she regretted not testifying against Min Jong Gook 10 years ago.
Seo Do Yeon and Jang Hye Sung's relationship as frenemies was good to watch. It is not the typical story which revolve on the same guy or any romance related story.

When she found out that his dad's mistake 26 years ago wherein he puts an innocent man to jail, she was flustered. Worse that the innocent man was her biological father. I was teary eyed when she openly accepted her father.

It is true, it takes so much courage to admit one's mistake.

"Isn't it lonely to say you're right when you know you're not?

Just because you say its right, doesn't make it right.

And doing so won't change it either.

Knowing that you're wrong yet still insisting that you're not, that's self abuse-

Living like that, one becomes alone without anyone being on your side."

Korean-drama-I-Hear-Your-Voice-episode-8

Cha Gwan Woo. He's a total freak. He looks dumb crazy with her nerdy glasses but how he has so much trust with his defendants is amazing. He's an ideal lawyer for me. The one who firmly believes in his clients.

--

Who would ever forget Hye Sung's mom? Her scenes really breaks my heart.

image

"An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth—if we lived by that law, then all the people in the world would be blind.”

“Promise me—that you won’t waste your life on hating other people.”

image

“She won’t live that way. I didn’t raise her to be like you.”

Simply, a mother's love.

»The Cameos :

Episode 1 : So E-Hyun as Min Joon Kook's lawyer
Episode 14 : Kim Min Jong as lawyer Choi Yoon, lawyer Cha's sunbae

and many more.. ^^

»Some of my favorite scenes :

YONGSEO : My Journey (2)

I become a fan of CNBLUE right after this show (We Got Married). Downloaded songs, watched all video clips, interviews and all videos and articles related to them.

Honestly speaking I was never a fan of SNSD but I really admire Hyoyeon’s dancing skills. It was only her that I knew..

As the journey of Yongseo Couple continue, I got to know Seohyun.

She was so honest about her lacking of experience and I admire her for that. Really she’s beautiful inside and out.

Right from the start, Yongseo was unlike any other couples I’d seen. It was really beyond awkward watching them and the progress of their relationship was so frustrating for me.

Watching them is like not watching couples getting married. It’s like watching two strangers who were forced to meet each other and fall in love with each other.

Yong was doing everything to make her laugh but it seems she was unresponsive at first. I was thinking that maybe because she’s new to this kind of things and seems like  “THIS IS JUST A SHOW" for them.

But then.. as the episodes continued. I realized maybe he truly has feelings for her. The fact that he noticed the little things she did and how he found them meaningful made me realize,  “Wait! this isn’t just a show on his part anymore."

When the birthday episode came along. I was stunned. I was like "Who else can give her a goguma land? Who the hell can think the way he thinks?" The way he presented his gifts amused me.

Then, the love light event after.. I was like "I dreamed of this. finally!" When Seohyun sang the song Love Light  with matching Hyun Senorita mask and a mini guitar just like the gag man did. I was shocked like Yong does. (hahaha) I was like “Why does she wear that mask?!" and then sweet moments happened. She gave the first book of “Hyun and Yong’s Story" with the rings on it. Who would ever forget the LOVE LIGHT CONFESSION? "I wrote the lyrics while thinking of you”. My heart really flutters. I giggled like crazy. I was overjoyed.

And isn’t it funny to have a husband who’s always jealous to the guys around you? I couldn’t forget Yonghwa’s expressions when Seohyun mentions about Jungmo Oppa or Jinwoon Oppa or when Minhyuk and Jungshin taught her how to play the bass and the drums. His jealousy just showed how interested is he to her and how he truly treats her as his wife. Isn’t he the Greedy Man? :)

When they really got comfortable with each other, what I felt was pure happiness. It’s nice seeing the both of them smiling at each other, not being awkward with each other and they even make jokes with each other. How she got comfortable with Yonghwa is so natural.

The progress of them being a married couple is not fast unlike other couple does. It took some time to develop their relationship.

When the show ended I felt like that their story was unfinished and couldn’t just end that way. Right after then, I started looking for any proof that they continued a real life relationship, articles, youtube, anything related to them.

image

I was really convinced that the looks they gave each other, the black room interview confessions, how they fought, how they felt, those shy moments between them are really true. Jinja!~

To those who believe that everything was scripted, do you people trying to say that Yonghwa, Seohyun and Yong’s mom are good actor and actresses? ‘Cause if yes, kindly give them the awards for Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Supporting actress though. This is the best love story I have ever seen that I can't compare to other OTP'S.

They both shared precious memories together and I do believe this Yongseo Journey will continue..

YONGSEO : My Journey (1)

Its been years already since our YongSeo couple met and I’m just starting to write about this. kkk

If you are a fan of CNBLUE and SNSD, I bet you know the show ‘We Got Married’. Where leader Jung YongHwa and maknae Seo JooHyun are paired.

Prior to this show, honestly I never knew about Seohyun or any other members of SNSD and I was not a kpop fan before but I am fond of watching Korean Japanese dramas/movies and reality shows. I've watched both YAB and Heartstrings, but sad to say (for some fans) that it didn't hit me like YongSeo does. I did’nt see any spark from them (PSH and JYH) unlike what I’ve experienced during We Got Married.

I've watched all seasons of "We Got Married" and from my own feelings and from what i saw. Yongseo is different from others.

k3 - Copy

Watching them made me felt different emotions. I giggled, I cried, I laughed and loved.

I journeyed with them as they portray the story of "FIRST LOVE".

I remember how Seohyun asked what’s the difference between ‘Love and Like’.

I was really shocked. She doesn’t know what is what. She’s really innocent and was way more reserved than I’d expected. 4D, health freak, go by the rules maknae with her quirky personality. OM!

And Yong totally surprised me. I did not expect him to be as cheerful, playful, friendly, caring and sweet namja. The Shin Woo image (as portrayed in You’re Beautiful) has probably etched in my mind that it came as a total surprise to see him so outspoken and lively.

This couple reminded me of how and what first love is. From their first meeting that was full of awkwardness. The progress of their relationship from friendship-would be couple to married one.

They shared a lot of first time together and have made so many meaningful memories even though it just a small event just like a real couple does.

Both of them are so pure and innocent. With simple love, a lot of care, less skin ships but full of sweetness.

image

image

They gave me goosebumps even from the simple staring glances.

From Yong’s cheesy lines to Seo to their epic holding hands..

I find myself watching them all over again from the first episode until the last episode after they ended their virtual marriage with 51 episode.

In other words.. I AM STUCK.

Like everyone does, surely we wont forget them.

Yongseo Everlasting!♥
